Sculpture Park

Martha Müller-Lüthi has been a dedicated patron of music for many years, and is also a passionate collector of outstanding contemporary art.

In 2002 the founder of the Zentrum Paul Klee agreed to show part of her collection to the public. To this end she commissioned the Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW) and the landscape architects Eduard Neuenschwander and Anja Bendorf to erect a Sculpture Park on the south-eastern perimeter of the Landscape Sculpture.

The Sculpture Park reflects the topography of the site. Rows of birch trees and six organically arranged sculptures in bronze and oxidised Corten steel line the winding path through the garden landscape. In front of this natural yet landscaped backdrop the works by Alicia Penalba, Oscar Wiggli and Yves Dana appear to communicate with one another.

Set out in this public arena the sculptures from the collection of Martha Müller-Lüthi become icons, created from the ethics of invention and design.
