Profile of Peter Schmid (*1941), President of the Board

• Studied at the Law and Economics Faculty at University of Bern, Advocate’s Degree.
• 1979: Appointed to the Cantonal Government of Bern. Director of Justice for eleven years and for four years also Community and Military Director; Director of Public Education during a further eight years. During this period President of the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Directors of Public Education.
• President of the Cantonal Government in 1983/84 and 1990/91.
• President of the Bern Art Museum Committee until the end of 2000.
