(Tear-out Music | Erik Satie, played with paper.
There he sits, in a Paris café, the moody Erik Satie, seeing friends and annotating his compositions with ironical and poetic comments. The public of his day was divided about Satie: some thought he was brilliant, others, that he was a dilettante. Debussy advised him to pay more attention to the form of his pieces. So Satie promptly composed “Three Pieces in the Form of a Pear”.
The pictorial music and idiosyncratic texts of Satie the musician have inspired the Debussy Trio Munich and the Papiertheater to a collage of music and paper, words and pictures. "Musik zum Ausreissen" examines the music drama potential of paper with intricate plays of light and water.
Satie’s piano work in its surprising scoring for harp, flute and viola is a revelation.
