(Tearing Out Sounds | A paper opera.)
For children aged 5 and over.
Something’s happening behind the paper screen. A pair of scissors starts cutting slits into the screen. Sounds come tearing out! And then all is quiet again. A mouth appears at the hole in the paper screen; a paper organ is created by more cuts; flutes peek out of a paper window; a cello stretches out; a saxophone sighs. So what came first: The sound or did the paper flap move just then? Does the same sound always come out of the same place? I can’t believe what my eyes are hearing.
A perception performance, a mix of figure and puppet theatre, Dada vocal acrobatics, tricky shadow-play and musical numbers. A surreal concert of pictures to open up your eyes and your ears.
Idea and performance: Johannes and Florian Volkmann. Director: Jörg Baesecke.
Main character: The Paper. Supporting character: The Scissors. Musicians: Four hands. Orchestra: A saxophone, four flutes, a drum, a paper organ, four timpani sticks, a light source.
