(Lifelines. Stage encounter with Paul Klee.)
A student at the Bauhaus once remarked of his teacher Paul Klee: “Many people refer to Paul Klee as a magician; he wasn’t, he didn't do magic. He was an inventor who discovered the magical.”
Four performers, accompanied by a string quartet, unroll the “carpet of remembrance”, woven from Klee’s diaries, letters and lectures at the Bauhaus, and invite the audience to take part on a flight through Klee’s universe. Points of contact include Klee’s inquisitiveness, his inventiveness, his love of music, and of Lily and Felix. His travels, which introduced him to colour. The walks along the River Aare and into the Elfenau site of Bern, over the Obstberg and to the stone quarries at Ostermundigen, strengthening his special bonds with nature: these are the magical centres of his paintings, the sites at the centre of which the Zentrum Paul Klee stands today.
A female singer, an actress, a dancer and an actor seek the light that illuminates the “glass façade”.
