Mariangela Mendez Prencke

Mariangela Méndez is an independent curator and teaches since 2006 at the Art Department, Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, Colombia. She has also work as Visual Arts Advisor for Colombia´s Ministry of Culture and Bogota´s Secretary of Culture.

In 2004 she did the MA in Curatorial Studies at the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College, NY. She is interested in the circulation and visibility of art works in relation to context, and exhibitions as an area of conflict, as a socially integrated project. Among her latest exhibitions are "In Other Words" (final thesis exhibitions, CCS Museum, Bard College, NY and Berrie Center, Ramapo College, NJ), "Half Promises" (Fundación Gilberto Alzate Avendaño, Bogotá), "Without Remedy" (for Galería AlCuadrado, Old Santa Rosa hospital, Bogotá). She is currently co-curating the exhibition "Red Ear," for the Salón Regional de Artistas of Bogotá and BiBA, International Biennial of Barranquilla. Mendez is also a lecturer and writer, contributor to symposia internationally and to cultural magazines such as Arteria, Cuadernos Grises and exhibition catalogues.
