The Swiss Jazz Orchestra is one of the most outstanding ensembles in Europe, with an amazingly varied repertoire. In April 2004 the Swiss Jazz Orchestra is scheduled to release its first album, with a selection of pieces based on works by Paul Klee. The pieces were specially composed and arranged for the Swiss Jazz Orchestra by star New York pianist and composer Jim McNeely.
For the opening of the Zentrum Paul Klee the Swiss Jazz Orchestra under Jim McNeely will perform excerpts from its new Klee CD as well as favourites from its repertoire.
The Swiss Jazz Orchestra was founded in 2003 by George Robert. Its members are all leading Swiss jazz musicians of the younger generation.
