Agnieszka Kurant

I am interested in the ways in which our tendency to approach things logically can lead us to experience a fictional version of reality. My works often change after they have been created and incorporate the loss of control of their author.

Agnieszka Kurant, Hypothetical Value - a 3 in 1 artwork changing the author depending on the weather conditions and light. (Painting of W.Sasnel in the sunlight, a work of Jan Simon below 21 degrees and Gianni Motti's work in uv light)

I am trying to exceed the logic of the world we live in and experience the existence of the future within the present. My works oscillate between visibility and invisibility, purposelessness and function, absurd and logic, ephemerality and permanence, fiction and reality, experience and its representation and create perplexity and doubt in what it is that we are seeing. These paradoxal works act against other fictions we accept as reality. I am interested in the limits of what can be mentally represented and how knowledge is domesticated in the world where the distinction between sense and nonsense can never be made with certainty.
